Is Ancillaries a manufacturer range?

No — it is a deliberate catch-all. The ancillaries hub groups the supporting parts that sit around a fire alarm system rather than inside one manufacturer's range: power supplies, transformer rectifiers, magnetic door holders and document enclosures. If you are looking for a panel or a field device, start at the relevant brand hub instead.

What size fire alarm power supply do I need?

It comes down to the total quiescent and alarm-load current on the circuits the supply is feeding, plus the standby duration the fire strategy calls for. We list EN 54-4 supplies at 24 V DC 2.5 A (HLSPS25) and 24 V DC 5 A (HLSPS50). Send us the load calculation or the circuit schedule and we will tell you which of the two covers it.

What is the difference between an EN 54-4 power supply and a transformer rectifier?

The specification. HLSPS25 and HLSPS50 are listed as EN 54-4 power supplies; HLS-PSU-TR20 and HLS-PSU-TR40 are listed as 24 V DC transformer rectifiers at 2.0 A and 4.0 A. Where a design or a certifying body calls for an EN 54-4 supply, fit the EN 54-4 item — do not substitute a transformer rectifier for it.

How do magnetic door holders work with the fire alarm?

The magnet holds the door open only while it is energised, so dropping the supply on alarm releases the door and lets the closer do its job. We list 24 V DC wall-mounted (04390-31) and floor-mounted (04390-41) holders alongside a 240 V AC version (04390-55), plus the floor plate and door plate spares.
