Fire Alarm Panel Batteries (Flame-Retardant VRLA)

Standby batteries for commercial fire alarm panels, voice-alarm PSUs and interface equipment — the Power Sonic 4015-YFR and Yuasa NP flame-retardant ranges plus high-capacity VA/PA sets, with fitment guidance drawn from our own catalogue. Trade supply, quote on request, couriered UK-wide.

Standby power

The battery is the panel's second life-line.

A fire alarm panel is only as resilient as its standby set. We're a trade supplier of fire alarm batteries for panel standby duty — sealed VRLA (valve-regulated lead-acid) blocks in flame-retardant cases, sized to carry a system through a mains failure and still sound the alarm at the end of it.

Three families cover the catalogue: the Power Sonic 4015-YFR flame-retardant range used across the Gent panel generations, the Yuasa NP flame-retardant range that covers the Morley Horizon, DXc and ZXSe panels, and high-capacity batteries for VA/PA emergency PSUs. BS 5839-1 standby requirements are site-specific, so we confirm capacity at quote stage — batteries ship by courier UK-wide, quoted on request, never priced off a list.

Compatibility

Which battery does your fire alarm panel need?

Every pairing below is stated on our own live SKU listings or the Gent Nano range page — nothing is imported from anywhere else, and quantities appear only where our pages state them. If your panel isn't listed, call 0844 997 0001 and we'll confirm the right set before you order. Sizing a battery from the panel's currents? Use our fire alarm battery calculator.

The ranges

Battery ranges we supply.

Power Sonic 4015-YFR: 12V blocks from 1.2Ah to 21Ah — including the 1.2Ah 4015-517-YFR and 17Ah 4015-504-YFR — plus the 6V mimic unit. Yuasa NP: 12V from 1.2Ah to 65Ah, with NP1.2-12, NP24-12, NP38-12 and NP65-12 covering the sizes with no stated panel fitment. VA/PA emergency PSUs take the 65–150Ah sets, always in pairs; the catalogue also lists Power Sonic alternatives — 581730.PS, 581731.PS, 581732.PS — with no stated fitment, so confirm at quote.

Brand honesty matters here: these are Power Sonic and Yuasa batteries. The panel names above are fitment references from our own records — not Gent or Honeywell branding on the battery.

FAQ

Common panel-battery questions.

What type of battery does a fire alarm panel use?

Sealed lead-acid VRLA blocks in flame-retardant cases — 12V as standard, with most addressable panels using two in series for 24V standby. Our own Gent Nano range page states it plainly: the Nano 24 takes 2 × 4015-501-YFR. Capacity in Ah is set by the panel's standby requirement, not by the case that fits.

Which battery does my fire alarm panel take?

Check the fitment table above — it maps our catalogue records to Gent Vigilon, Sentri, Nano, Xenex and FP595 panels, Morley Horizon, DXc and ZXSe, and VA/PA emergency PSUs. If the panel isn't listed — including Vigilon Plus, Morley MAx and Morley Plus — call 0844 997 0001 to confirm before ordering.

How often should fire alarm panel batteries be replaced?

Typically every four to five years, or sooner where a service visit finds capacity degradation. Standby batteries are a service consumable: date them at installation and check them against the site's standby requirement at routine service.

Why do fire panel batteries have flame-retardant cases?

They sit inside the panel or PSU enclosure, so the case material must not contribute to fire spread. Flame-retardant variants are what panel makers specify, and every battery in this range is supplied in a flame-retardant case as standard.

Do you supply batteries for domestic smoke alarms?

No — we supply standby batteries for commercial fire alarm panels, interface equipment and voice-alarm PSUs. Supply is trade, quote-only, couriered UK-wide.

Battery part number in hand?

Send it over — same-day quotes on stocked batteries, couriered UK-wide, and a fitment check against the panel before anything ships.
