Gent fire alarm systems are everywhere in UK commercial buildings — hospitals, schools, offices, heritage estates — and the brand’s addressable platform is a specification staple for consultants and fire alarm engineers alike. Gent is a Honeywell fire-safety brand, and the current range runs from the compact Nano panel through the networked Vigilon Plus platform to conventional Xenex panels, the S-Quad detector family and BS 8629 evacuation alert equipment.

Addressable or conventional Gent systems?
An addressable Gent system — Nano or Vigilon Plus — gives every device its own identity on the loop, so the panel reports “smoke detector, room 214” rather than “zone 3”. That precision pays for itself in larger buildings, in anything with sleeping risk, and on sites where finding a fault fast matters. Addressable loops also carry sounders and visual alarms on the same wiring, which keeps installation tidy and makes later changes cheaper.
A conventional Gent system — the Xenex panel range in 2, 4 and 8 zone formats — divides the building into zones of hard-wired circuits. For a small unit, a workshop or a straightforward retrofit, a conventional panel is simple, robust and easy for any engineer to work on. The honest answer to “which one?” is the fire strategy and the building: if in doubt, tell us what the site looks like and we will steer you — including telling you when the cheaper option is the right one. Gent detectors, sounders and devices.
The device catalogue centres on the S-Quad family: multi-sensor detectors combining optical smoke and heat sensing, with variants adding integrated voice sounders and VADs on the same base — one address, one drill hole, full coverage. The S4 Self Test range adds remote functional testing. Around them sit manual call points, beam detectors, duct detection, interfaces and the S-Cubed sounder family.
Legacy Gent parts and ongoing support.
Thousands of older Gent panels are still in front-line service, and keeping them compliant is half our trade. The legacy support range covers spares and accessories for out-of-production panels, with legacy field devices alongside. Is Gent owned by Honeywell?
Yes — Gent is a Honeywell fire-safety brand, sold as Gent by Honeywell. The Gent name has a long UK heritage in fire detection, and today the range sits alongside Honeywell stablemates like Morley-IAS and Xtralis. What is the difference between Gent Vigilon and Nano?
Loops and networking. Vigilon Plus panels run 1 to 6 addressable loops depending on the panel and can be networked across multiple panels with repeat panels where the fire strategy needs them. The Nano 24 runs a single loop and stands alone — no networking, no repeaters — which suits smaller buildings where one loop covers everything. Both use the same Gent addressable device families.
Can I still buy parts for older Gent panels?
In most cases, yes. We hold legacy Gent spares, accessories and replacement devices for panels that are out of current production but still in service, and can advise on like-for-like replacements where an exact part is no longer made. Do you supply Gent equipment to trade and end users?
Both. Most of our customers are fire alarm engineering and maintenance companies, but we supply end clients too — facilities teams, building owners and contractors managing their own estates.
