Honeywell CLSS Gateways and Licensing

Honeywell CLSS — Connected Life Safety Services — is how an installed fire system reports back remotely. It takes a CLSS Gateway on the panel, a yearly connection licence for that panel or network, and a Self-Test licence per reporting device. We supply the gateway hardware, the licences and the Vigilon and DXc retrofit bundles.

Common Honeywell CLSS questions.

What does CLSS stand for?

Connected Life Safety Services — Honeywell's connected-services platform for fire systems. In supply terms it breaks into three things you have to order separately: gateway hardware on the panel, a yearly connection licence, and any per-device licences the system needs.

What do I need to connect an existing panel to CLSS?

A gateway and a connection route. The HON-CGW-MBB fixed CLSS Gateway has Ethernet and Wi-Fi built in; where there is no usable site network, the CCM2-GLOBAL GSM module handles the connection instead. On top of the hardware you need a yearly gateway connection licence — GATEWAY SUBSCRIPTION SINGLE PANEL for one panel, or GATEWAY SUBSCRIPTION NETWORK SYSTEM for a whole network domain.

Are there upgrade bundles for existing panels?

Yes, for two platforms. VIG-UPGR-CLSS is the Vigilon bundle — gateway, GSM module, I/O card, PSU and batteries. DXC-UPGR-CLSS is the Morley DXc bundle — gateway, GSM module and RS232 card. Both are put together for existing installations rather than new builds. For anything else, send the panel model and we will work out what the retrofit needs.

How do Self-Test licences work?

One licence per Self-Test device, bought as a term rather than per test. Terms run 1, 3, 5, 10 and 14 years — ST-LICENSE-1Y through to ST-LICENSE-14Y — and give unlimited testing for the length of the term. Count the Self-Test devices on the job, not the panels.

Can VESDA detectors be connected to CLSS?

There is a VESDA detector connection licence — GATEWAY SUBSCRIPTION VESDA — taken one per detector, and it still requires a gateway on site. Ordering conditions on this one change, so ask us to confirm current availability before you build it into a specification.
