What is the difference between PA and VA?
The same loudspeaker network, two different duties. PA is routine use — paging, announcements, background music. VA is the evacuation duty: the system carries the emergency message and the fireman's microphone override. Equipment such as the DCS Plus call station is built for both, which is why the two are usually specified together.
Are all the loudspeakers EN 54-24 approved?
Most, but not all. The great majority of the loudspeakers listed here carry BS EN 54-24 in their description — ceiling, wall, cabinet, column, horn and sound-projector types. A small number do not, so check the individual part before you commit it to a voice-alarm circuit rather than assuming from the range.
What is the difference between the V1 and D1 voice racks?
They are two different rack platforms with different modules. The D1 rack is built around the SCU system communication unit, DOM4-8 and DOM4-24 loudspeaker output modules, 100 V power amplifiers and DCS call stations. The V1 rack is built around the INC network controller, Class D amplifiers with either inbuilt battery charging or power sharing, speaker line modules and its own 1U and 2U supplies. Tell us which rack is installed and we will match the part.
Do ceiling loudspeakers come with the metal rear cover?
It depends on the part. Several ceiling loudspeakers are listed complete with the metal rear cover — LSC-606 and 582401 among them. For the shallow-void types 582407.SAFE and 582408.SAFE the cover is a separate line, 582407.FD and 582408.FD, so order it alongside if the install needs one.
Do you supply PA/VA to trade and end users?
Both. Most orders come from fire alarm and electrical contractors, but we supply specifiers, FM teams and building owners running their own estates too — same range, same engineering support on the phone.
