What does Li-ion Tamer detect?
Off-gas rather than smoke or heat. Lithium-ion cells vent gas as they degrade, and the Li-ion Tamer sensors monitor the atmosphere inside the battery enclosure for it. Because that gas is released before there is anything for a smoke or heat detector to see, the system is specified as an early-warning layer alongside conventional detection rather than as a replacement for it.
What is the reference sensor for?
Ambient comparison. A monitoring sensor such as LT-SEN-M3 sits in the battery space, while a reference sensor such as LT-SEN-R3 samples the background atmosphere outside it. Comparing the two lets the system separate a genuine off-gas event inside the enclosure from a change in the surrounding air, which is what keeps false indications down in a plant room or a container.
Where is it typically installed?
Battery energy storage installations — containerised systems, plant rooms and battery rooms where lithium-ion cells are held in quantity. The Gen 3 hardware is built around a controller, PoE or direct-power hubs and DIN-rail mounting, so it goes into the same panel and cabinet arrangements the rest of the plant uses.
Can it be interfaced to a fire alarm panel or a BMS?
Yes. The range includes interface and relay output hardware — the LT-SEN-IM-UL interface module and the LT-ACC-ERO-16 sixteen-port Ethernet relay output among them — so the system's outputs can be taken into a fire alarm panel, a BMS or a battery management system.
