The S4BK-700 exists so a black detector does not sit on a white ring. Gent publishes no separate dimensional or environmental figures for the black moulding, so the S4-700 data is the only data there is, but the ordering unit differs: one per pack, not five.
The pack difference catches people out on takeoff: twenty black heads is twenty base lines, where twenty white would have been four.

Compatibility
Made for the black heads, among them S4BK-711, S4BK-711-V and S4BK-711-V-VAD-HPR. Where the head is a sounder or visual alarm, put a S4BK-705 plate beneath this base; there is no black counterpart to the combined S4-701 pack, so plate and base are always two lines. Mechanically it interchanges with S4-700 if colour is not an issue.
Ask us if a quantity is needed quickly, as the single-unit pack size means lead times behave differently from the white base.
Installation
Identical to the white base: metal back box, continuous earth, conductors on the terminals. Check plate colour before the grid goes back, since a white one under a black base shows from the floor.
