Functionally this is the three-channel dual-optical heat head in a different moulding. The colour is the material colour of the plastic itself rather than a coating, and it carries one consequence the white version does not.
Semi-flush fixing is documented as applicable to white-bodied S-Quad devices only, so this head cannot be recessed with the standard kit. It sits proud on a surface base — and that base needs to be black too, or the finish is undone from below.

Compatibility
Pair with S4BK-700, and with S4BK-705 where an ingress plate is wanted, so the assembly reads black from the floor. The white original is S4-711; add voice to this body and you have S4BK-711-V.
Installation
Order base and head together. A dark device on a pale base is the commonest thing to get wrong on a job that has otherwise been careful about ceiling finish.
