S4-701 is the part number to quote when a sounder or visual alarm device has to arrive compliant in one box. It is the base and the plate packed as an assembly, one per pack, instead of two separate order lines counted at different pack quantities.
An S-Quad head reads IP21C only when its base sits on an IP21 plate. Fitted, the assembly measures 140 mm across and stands 52 mm proud of the ceiling, worth checking against any trim or aperture already allowed for.

Compatibility
This is the pack to specify against every white sounder and visual alarm head, including S4-770-S, S4-711-V and the VAD variants such as S4-711-V-VAD-HPR. For detection-only devices the plain S4-700 is enough. Where bases are already installed and only the plates are missing, buy S4-705 by the pack rather than replacing the bases.
Installation
Plate to the back box first, base fixed through it, then wire and close up as usual. The plate adds depth, so offer the head up before the tile is finally cut and the trim will sit flush.
