Overview

The S4-711-VAD-HPR pairs forward-scatter and backward-scatter optical chambers and a heat element with a red EN 54-23 strobe. Its label reads O2 H/RVAD/HP, and the missing V is the whole point: this head flashes, but carries neither sounder nor speech.

With no transducer fitted, the tone, turbo and message data governing the rest of the 711 family does not apply, and the strobe is the only alarm load it places on the loop. Specify it where a visual warning is required but audibility is already met by other devices in the zone.

Specifications from 4188-1073 issue 3.

Compatibility

Twists onto the standard S4-700 base, but as a certified visual alarm it must sit on an IP21 plate to hold that approval: order S4-701 for base and plate together, or S4-705 where bases are already installed. High and Medium intensity require an Enhanced Loop Card in the Vigilon Plus panel; on a Nano loop every S-Quad VAD is fixed at Low.

Installation

Terminate the loop at the base, fit the IP21 plate beneath, then engage the head. Intensity is selected from the panel at commissioning, not set on the device, so settle on High, Medium or Low from the figures above before the engineer leaves site.
