Overview

The S4T-711-VAD-HPR is the silent strobe of the Self-Test range: dual-angle optical and heat sensing with a high-power red VAD, and no audible output of any kind. Its plate declares EN 54-5, 7, 17, 18 and 23 — note the absence of EN 54-3 — and because there is no speech or sounder the baffle ring is black, not white.

That makes it the part for areas where a visual signal is required alongside detection but sound is provided elsewhere, or would be unwelcome: sleeping risk corridors served by separate sounders, treatment rooms, studios. It still uses channel 5, which reports strobe faults back to the panel in the same way it reports sounder faults on the audible parts.

Three intensity settings are selectable, and each one changes both the loop current and the EN 54-23 coverage volume, so the setting is a design decision rather than a commissioning preference. If an audible output is needed on the same head, S4T-711-V-VAD-HPR adds a voice sounder.

Compatibility

Fits the S4-700 base with the S4-705 IP21C plate. Self-Test needs the Vigilon loop of a Vigilon plus or Compact plus panel on compatible firmware. Gent requires the Battery Standby and Loop Load calculator for the loop design rather than a per-device rule of thumb.

Installation

The flash output is factory set to a pulse every two seconds. One, two and four seconds can be selected with the commissioning tools, but only two seconds is compliant with EN 54-23, so leave it. Confirm the intensity setting matches the coverage figure the drawing was designed to.
